Description
The Telefunken TDA-1 is a mono active direct box engineered for engineers who need a rider-friendly DI that holds up on tour and sounds musical on the console. Its discrete Class-A FET front end pairs with a custom-wound OEP/Carnhill transformer (UK-made) to strike a balance between headroom and warmth, avoiding the sterile edge or artificial low-end bloat common in cheaper boxes.
Inside, gold-plated, hand-assembled through-hole circuitry keeps connections stage-reliable, while each unit is individually tuned for minimal distortion. High input impedance protects passive pickups from loading, and a frequency response of ±1dB from 20Hz-50kHz means your instrument’s true character reaches the snake, not a filtered version of it. For FOH teams managing input lists and stage plots, this is a DI that won’t be the weak link in the signal chain.
The extruded aluminum chassis with recessed switches and connectors is built for the load-in/load-out grind, and standard +48V phantom power with an LED indicator keeps setup simple for any stage patch.
