Description
TELEFUNKEN built the M80 as a direct answer to the mid-range-heavy “industry standard” mic that’s dominated stages for decades. Instead of settling for that familiar coloration, they engineered a super-cardioid dynamic with a wider frequency window and higher SPL headroom, so it behaves more like a condenser when it comes to nuance and detail — without sacrificing the durability engineers and touring vocalists actually need.
At the heart of the M80 is a low-mass, ultra-thin capsule membrane that’s more delicate than what you’d expect from a stage dynamic, yet holds up to serious abuse. That low mass is what lets it track the subtleties of a live vocal performance — breath, dynamics, emotion — with an intimacy usually reserved for studio condensers.
The head and capsule geometry were specifically tuned to minimize proximity effect, keeping low-end response clean and controlled as a singer works the mic. You still get an open, airy top end with real authority in the mids, but without the upper-midrange buildup that tips into feedback or honk on a loud stage. An American-made, custom-wound impedance-matching transformer rounds out the signal path and is a big part of why this mic built such a fast, loyal following.
Equally at home on vocals, guitar cabs, brass, or drums, the M80 is a flexible choice for FOH engineers building out a rider-friendly mic locker or scaling a rig for bigger stages. This listing is an open box demo unit.
