Miking a full kit shouldn’t mean juggling five different mic choices and hoping they sit well together in the mix. Telefunken solved that with the DD5, a matched set built from its TEC Award-winning Dynamic Series, purpose-voiced for kick, snare, and toms so the kit reads as one cohesive instrument on stage or in the studio.
- 1x M82 on kick, with switchable KICK EQ (350Hz cut) and HIGH BOOST (2-10kHz lift) for four selectable voicings — flat, punchy, articulate, or both
- 1x M80-SH on snare, a low-profile dynamic with wide frequency response, tight cardioid pattern, and higher SPL headroom than typical mid-heavy snare mics
- 3x M81-SH for toms, sharing the M80-SH’s low proximity effect and feedback rejection but with a flatter top end for extra body and clarity
Every mic in the set carries the exact same circuit as its full-size counterpart, just housed in a shorter body with a built-on stand mount — the M80-SH and M81-SH are finished in textured black and dark gray powder coat respectively for easy visual ID under stage lights.
Everything travels together in the HC85 hard shell flight case, packed with the mounts and cabling a working drum tech actually needs:
- M782 kick drum mount for the M82
- M784 (metal) and M785 (plastic) mounts for the M80-SH and each M81-SH
- 5x SGMC-5R five-meter XLR cables with right-angle female connectors, sized for tight kit runs to the snake
