For front-of-house engineers and touring guitarists alike, the Radial JDX Direct-Drive solves a familiar problem: how to get a real amp tone into the mix without hauling a cab to every gig. Rather than just passing pedal signal through like a standard DI, the Direct-Drive shapes it to mimic the feel and character of a miked cabinet, so what hits the PA actually sounds like a guitar rig.
Guitar plugs into a passive ¼” input with thru-put to a stage amp if you want one, plus a buffered tuner output that keeps your pickup loading and clock noise out of the signal. From there the tone-shaping kicks in: the core JDX voicing emulates an SM57 on a Marshall 4×12, while two additional switchable voices bring in vintage Marshall tube-head grit and early Fender Twin shimmer. A presence switch adds top-end sparkle to either amp voicing for extra rider-friendly flexibility on stage or in the truck.
Output-wise, you get a ¼” guitar-level out and a balanced XLR feed to the console, with a 180° polarity reverse switch for aligning phase between monitors and stage amp, and a ground lift to kill hum from loop issues—both essentials for a clean, scalable rig. Power comes from a standard 9V supply or pedalboard brick, and the whole unit is built in 14-gauge steel to survive life on the road while shielding the internal PCB from external EMI.
