Description
The EKX-12P is Electro-Voice’s take on a do-everything powered box: compact enough to load in solo, loud enough to anchor a club rig or DJ setup on its own. A 1500W Class-D amplifier drives the 12″ EVS-12M woofer and EV-engineered waveguide, pushing peak output to 132 dB while keeping distortion in check across a 60 Hz – 18 kHz working range.
What sets it apart from a basic powered wedge is the QuickSmartDSP built into the amp module. A single knob and LCD menu give you four voicing presets — Music, Live, Speech, and Club — plus room to save up to five of your own custom settings. Three-band EQ, input level control, crossover matching for sub/top pairings, limiter monitoring, and master gain are all accessible without a laptop or app, which matters when you’re setting up between sets or handing the box to a stagehand who’s never seen it before.
EV’s Signal Synchronized Transducers (SST) waveguide keeps coverage even from front row to back, while forced-air cooling and a sensor-driven variable-speed fan let the amp run hard through long sets without thermal shutdown. The cabinet itself is 15mm wood with internal bracing and EVCoat finish, fitted with eight M10 mounting points, an aluminum pole mount, and all-metal handles — details that matter when the box is going in and out of a van every weekend.
