Description
The EKX-12 slots into Electro-Voice’s portable loudspeaker lineup right where DJs, musicians, and touring techs need it: above entry-level boxes, built with the same engineering pedigree as EV’s flagship rigs, but light enough to load in solo.
At its core is EV’s patented Signal Synchronized Transducers (SST) waveguide, which keeps horizontal and vertical dispersion locked together across the band’s midsize-stage 90° x 60° pattern. That means fewer dead spots at the edges of the audience and a more even mix from front row to back wall. A 40° monitor angle with rubber feet also lets it double as a wedge when the gig calls for it.
Inside, a 12-inch EVS-12M low-frequency driver pairs with a 1-inch titanium DH-1M compression driver through a 1.6 kHz crossover, handling 350W continuous / 1400W peak for a 131 dB peak SPL ceiling — plenty of headroom for bar gigs, mobile DJ setups, or as a fill box in a larger PA. Frequency response runs 82 Hz–18 kHz (-3 dB), with a recommended 55 Hz high-pass point for anyone pairing it with a sub.
The cabinet itself is built to survive vans and load-ins: 15mm braced plywood finished in durable EVCoat, an 18 AWG powder-coated steel grille, eight M10 threaded mounting points for flying, an aluminum pole mount, and metal handles throughout. Dual NL4 connectors handle signal in.
