Description
Miking a full kit accurately means fighting bleed without sacrificing tone — the Earthworks DK7 Drum Kit System hands you everything needed to do it right, straight out of the case. This seven-microphone bundle pairs four DM20 cardioid condensers for snare and toms with two SR25 cardioid condensers for overhead coverage, plus a dedicated SR20LS engineered around the unique demands of kick drum reproduction.
What ties the whole kit together is Earthworks’ signature transparency. Each capsule delivers an even response across its entire pickup field, so off-axis capture never introduces the coloration you’d get from lesser mics. Where sound is rejected, it’s rejected hard — over 30 dB — which means less snare in your tom channel, less hi-hat wash in your overheads, and cleaner separation whether you’re tracking or mixing live from the board.
The DM20s handle the close-mic duty on snare and toms, covering 50 Hz to 20 kHz with a fast impulse response and short diaphragm settling time so rapid-fire hits stay defined instead of smearing together. At 150 dB SPL handling with 32 dB of rear rejection, they shrug off hard-hitting drummers while keeping adjacent drums out of the picture. Each DM20 rides on a stainless steel mini-gooseneck stiff enough to hold position through the heaviest playing, mounted via the included RM1 RimMount.
Rounding out the package: mounting clips for the SR25s and SR20LS, windscreens, and a rugged case to keep the whole system road-ready between gigs.
