Description
Front-of-house engineers and monitor engineers rarely agree on what they need from stage gear, but the dbx DI4 gives both what they want from a single 1/2 RU unit. Run four unbalanced 1/4″ sources — keyboards, samplers, drum modules, laptops — into independent DI channels, and send each one out as a properly balanced XLR signal to the snake. Long cable runs, noisy stage boxes, and grounding gremlins are handled with a dedicated 20dB pad and ground lift switch on every channel.
Where the DI4 earns its rack space is the built-in line mixer function. Instead of just passing signal through, you can blend the volume and pan of all four channels down to a stereo RCA output, giving you a self-contained sub-mix for personal monitoring or a simplified feed for recording, independent of whatever mix FOH is pulling from the XLR outs. A front-panel headphone output with master volume means a keyboardist or playback operator can dial in their own balance without bothering anyone else.
Built for the realities of touring and studio work alike, the DI4 keeps things quiet and clean: sub -90dB crosstalk, 0.0008% THD+N, and a wide 20Hz-20kHz frequency response.
- Four independent DI channels in a half-rack chassis
- Per-channel 20dB pad and ground lift switches
- Per-channel volume and pan for the line mixer function
- Master volume and headphone output
- Stereo RCA line mixer outputs plus XLR balanced outputs
- 320k Ohm input impedance, +15dBu peak input level
- Universal 100-240V AC power supply
Recommended for studio, touring, and portable rack setups where you need reliable DI conversion and a flexible stage-side mixing option in one box.
