Description
The Countryman ISOMAX 2 is a miniature condenser capsule engineered for the realities of live sound: cramped mounting spots, high-SPL instruments, and stages where feedback margin is everything. This omnidirectional version ships hardwired with a 10-foot cable terminating in an XLR3 male connector, ready to patch straight into a snake or DI without extra adapters.
Unlike many small-diaphragm mics that drift toward omni behavior as frequencies drop, the ISOMAX 2 platform holds true, frequency-independent polar response across its available patterns (omni, cardioid, hypercardioid). For a house engineer that means predictable rejection and gain-before-feedback that doesn’t degrade on the low end — a real advantage when the mic is buried inside an instrument body or hung above a busy stage.
- Frequency response: 20 Hz–20 kHz (omni configuration)
- Sensitivity: -57 dB re 1V/Pa (1.4 mV/Pascal)
- Equivalent acoustic noise: 25 dBA (omni)
- Overload SPL: 150 dB SPL at 1% THD at 1kHz — plenty of headroom for brass, drums, or amp cabinets up close
- Power: 6V–50V phantom at 4mA (voltage below 24V reduces overload SPL)
- Output impedance: 600 Ohms ±2%, balanced, transformerless
- Capsule dimensions: 5/16″ x 5/8″ x 5/32″ (8mm x 16mm x 4mm), excluding strain relief
- Cable: 10 feet, hardwired, terminating in XLR3 male
Included in the box: the ISOMAX 2 microphone, a basic clip, windscreen, and carrying case — enough to get it on an instrument or stand and gigging the same day.
Whether it’s tucked inside a kick drum, taped to a horn bell, or rigged for theater and broadcast work, the ISOMAX 2 earns its spot on riders that demand a mic that disappears visually but never sonically.
