Description
The Chameleon Labs 7721 brings console-grade VCA compression to any two-space rack slot, making it a natural fit for touring FOH racks, broadcast trucks, or mix rooms that need transparent, musical control without sacrificing headroom. Its low-noise IC input and output stages, paired with a quiet internal power supply, keep the signal path clean even when you’re pushing gain reduction hard across a full mix bus.
Detection is handled by a true VCA circuit with switchable Peak or RMS modes, so you can choose fast transient control for drums and percussion-heavy stereo buses or smoother, program-friendly compression for a full band mix. Soft and Hard Knee options let you dial in anything from gentle glue to aggressive limiting, while the sidechain input with a selectable 60/90/130/200 Hz high-pass filter helps tame low-frequency pumping when de-essing or controlling kick-heavy material.
Threshold, Attack, Release, and Ratio controls follow familiar conventions—Attack from 0.1 to 30ms and Release from 0.1 to 1.5 seconds—giving engineers the flexibility to match compression behavior to tempo and feel on the fly. The Blend control adds parallel-compression capability in a single box, letting you mix compressed and dry signal to taste rather than committing to full wet processing. Dual VU meters track Input, Output, and Gain Reduction per channel, so level decisions stay visual and fast during a busy show or session. With XLR I/O throughout and a scalable two-channel footprint, the 7721 slots easily into stereo bus or subgroup duties on any rig.
