Description
The Electro-Voice XW12A brings genuine touring-console pedigree to the monitor line, having started life as part of EV’s flagship X-Array system. This is a two-way, high-output floor wedge engineered for stages where clarity and headroom both matter — not a compromise box, but a scaled-down piece of the same engineering that powers arena rigs.
- Biamp-only design pairs a 12″ DL12ST woofer in a vented low-frequency enclosure with a 3-inch ND6-16 titanium/neodymium compression driver
- Ring-Mode Decoupling on the woofer keeps vocal reproduction articulate instead of smeared, even as levels climb
- An 80° x 55° constant-directivity horn locks in even coverage, and the cabinet offers two symmetrical 55° wedge angles so you can dial in listening height without hunting for a different box
- LF/HF sensitivity rated at 98/110 dB (1W/1m), with calculated max SPL of 129/135 dB — plenty of ceiling for a monitor that still stays compact enough to fit tight stage real estate
- Long-term power handling of 300W LF / 75W HF (1200W/300W short-term) gives it real dynamic headroom for demanding mix positions
- Frequency response runs 65–18,000 Hz (-3dB), extending to 50–20,000 Hz at -10dB
- Two parallel Neutrik Speakon connectors on either end simplify daisy-chaining across a monitor line
- Integrated dual handles for load-in, and a 13-ply birch plywood shell with Futura finish for the abuse of nightly transport
No internal crossover is fitted — this wedge is meant to run off an outboard/system controller, so pairing it with proper amp channels and processing is part of the deal. If your monitor rig needs a wedge that can handle serious stage volume without losing intelligibility, the XW12A earns its place on the rider.
