Description
The PR 20 moves past decades-old dynamic mic design with a wider frequency response and a diaphragm that shrugs off high SPL sources without breaking up. That combination makes it comfortable on a lead vocal one song and clamped to a snare drum the next, without asking the mixer to compensate with EQ.
Heil Sound has spent decades refining cardioid pattern control for communications and broadcast use, and that phasing expertise carries directly into the PR 20’s polar pattern. Rear rejection is notably tight, so off-axis stage wash, monitor bleed, and adjacent instruments stay out of the capsule while the front signal stays focused. A low-mass diaphragm paired with a neodymium-iron-boron magnet structure gives the capsule fast transient response along with serious output, which helps vocals sit forward in a mix with clear upper-midrange presence.
Housed in heavy steel construction, this is a mic meant for the realities of touring and stage handling rather than studio-only use, and every unit is assembled and tested in Illinois.
