Description
Built to hold its own against the industry-standard kick and large-diaphragm dynamics, the TELEFUNKEN M82 is a road-ready workhorse hand-assembled and tested in CT, USA. Its large 35mm diaphragm delivers serious low-frequency handling, making it a natural fit for kick drum duty on stages where a single, well-placed mic needs to capture both beater attack and shell body without stacking extra channels on the rider.
As an end-address design, you simply aim the headgrille at the source. The real utility for touring and FOH engineers is the pair of independent EQ switches, which combine for four distinct voicings:
- KICK EQ — a passive filter that dips boxy low-mid buildup around 350Hz, keeping the low end clean and defined for kick drum applications.
- HIGH BOOST — tilts up frequencies from roughly 2kHz, adding 6dB by 10kHz for extra beater click and top-end articulation, useful for switching between vintage and modern kick tones, or adding air to vocals and guitar amps.
While kick drum is its home base, the M82 handles percussion, guitar and bass cabs, brass, organ, and broadcast voice with equal confidence, giving smaller rigs a flexible extra mic that doesn’t demand a dedicated use case.
Housing follows the classic U47-style headgrille architecture, finished in durable black across the body and grille, and rated for the physical abuse of daily live use and repeated load-in/load-out.
Each M82 ships with the M782 stand mount adapter, a 5-meter STMC-5R XLR cable, and a protective zipper case — one less thing to source before the gig.
Key specs: Dynamic moving coil, 32mm capsule, cardioid pattern, 25Hz–18kHz frequency range, 1.85mV/Pa sensitivity.
