Description
Built around the same piezo-ceramic sensing element as Fishman’s V-100, the V-200 swaps in a Carpenter-style 1/4″ output jack that attaches using chinrest-style hardware on the side of the instrument. For violinists who need to get loud on a PA rig without cutting or permanently modifying their instrument, this is a straightforward path to plug-and-play amplification.
Because the pickup is lightweight, it avoids adding mass to the instrument body that would otherwise dampen the violin’s natural resonance and muting its acoustic character – an important consideration when the goal is a stage sound that still reads as a violin rather than a generic pickup tone.
Installation is tool-free and reversible: the chinrest-style mount means there’s no drilling, gluing, or routing involved, so the instrument stays exactly as it was when you’re done gigging. For best results feeding a mixer or DI on a live-sound rig, pairing the V-200 with an impedance-matching preamp is recommended, though the pickup will function without one.
- Piezo-ceramic pickup element
- Carpenter-style 1/4″ output jack
- Lightweight design to minimize muting of the instrument’s natural tone
- Mounts with chinrest-style hardware – no alteration to the instrument required
- Impedance-matching preamp recommended, but not required
A practical choice for violinists moving between acoustic and amplified settings, from small rooms to full PA coverage.
